something to think about:
the earth is 4.6 billion years old. let's scale that to 46 years. we have been here for 4 hours. Our industrial revolution began 1 minute ago. In that time, we have destroyed more than 50% of the world's forests.
this isn't sustainable.
clear (an area) of forests or trees.
verb: deforest; 3rd person present: deforests; past tense: deforested; past participle: deforested; gerund or present participle: deforesting
so why is treeshirts so passionate about putting down new roots?
Deforestation leads to ecological and environmental imbalances and results in rapid declines of both habitat and biodiversity. Deforestation is happening all over the word, but it's effects can be felt hardest in our rainforests. By the early 21st century only around 7% of the original atlantic forest of Brazil remained and beyond that, only an estimated 2% of primary forest was still intact. since the atlantic forest is one of the most threatened biomes in the world, we chose to begin our restoration efforts here.
although all areas of our planet are threatened by deforestation and habitat destruction, through our relationship with r.e.g.u.a and their current establishment, treeshirts (and you!) can make the biggest impact in this area.
Brazil's essential biodiversity made it the perfect place for our business to start its global impact. although we chose to begin in Brazil, we are committed to expanding our reach as far as the rainforest trees can grow. as our company matures, treeshirts will target and donate to other areas around the world that also face the dangers of deforestation.
